VoIP tones and shapes cableco's bottom line

Tools

Why are cablecos pushing VoIP? Because it does lovely things to their bottom line. Comcast, the nation's biggest cable carrier, says its 7 percent second-quarter growth was driven largely by voice. It added 227,000 Comcast Digital Voice customers in that quarter--and the product is only available to 60 percent of its customers. Revenue from VoIP jumped $67 million--a significant part of the company's overall $460 million total profit.
