VON: A home Skype server, but don't call it that

Tools

VoxLib is launching an interesting convergence tool for Skype, called VOX for Skype. It's software that sits on a consumer's Skype-connected PC. From a mobile (or other remote) phone, the user calls his own SkypeIn number and enters a PIN. The VOX software leads the caller through an IVR system that gives him access to his entire Skype environment, including SkypeOut calls. The software, of course, is really acting as a PBX or telecom server--two terms that VoxLib avoids in the firm (and correct) knowledge that they would scare every one of their target users away. The software is free for the downloading, and company officials say they're working on similar products for VoIM services.
