Vonage rolls out expanded unlimited calling plan, includes mobile

Tools

VoIP provider Vonage today rolled out an expanded calling plan that allows customers unlimited calling in 80 countries, including unlimited calling to mobile phones in 42 countries. The service includes unlimited local and long distance home phone service across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.

The Holmdel, N.J -based company said it's expanded its World calling plan to the World Premium Unlimited calling plan, priced at $54.99 a month. The service also includes:

  • Unlimited readable voicemail transcriptions sent via text and email;
  • Caller ID, Call Waiting, Anonymous Call Block, 3-Way-Calling;
  • Free Vonage-to-Vonage calls;
  • 411 Enhanced Directory Assistance;
  • Online Account Access to manage features and service, and
  • the ability to take the Vonage adapter anywhere there's a high-speed Internet connection.

"People who make international calls to mobiles are frustrated by the huge premiums they pay to their phone company," said Mike Tempora, senior vice president of product management for Vonage. "World Premium provides these callers with the peace of mind to call any landline or mobile number in 42 countries including Brazil, Costa Rica, Japan, Australia, France, Spain and the UK for one flat price."

Tempora said customers who use World Premium Unlimited to call mobile phones for as little as one hour a week in countries like Mexico and the UK can save upwards of $400 a year compared to per minute rates from phone companies.

Vonage, which is set to release first quarter earnings results May 4, last week reached a 52-week high on Friday, reaching $5.05 during mid-day trading. It closed at $4.95, up from $4.88 Thursday.
