Voxbone adds HD Voice support

Voxbone, a VoIP origination service, announced last week it is enabling its iNum service with a uniform identifier to offer HD Voice calling capability, according to the company. The company said the new service allows for the higher quality connections because most of its peering relationships are with carriers that have migrated to an all-IP infrastructure or began as VoIP networks.

Since most calls made through Voxbone don't pass over a traditional TDM network, they now can support high-definition voice signals, which the company said cannot fit through the frequency constraints of TDM networks.

"In equipping our iNum numbers with high-definition voice, we are bringing a key piece - a uniform identifier - to the emerging HD ecosystem," Rod Ullens, Voxbone CEO, said in a statement. "Many endpoints and a lot of isolated networks, such as Skype, already support HD, but there needs to be a standard way for any service provider to reach a particular HD endpoint. HD-enabled iNum offers the perfect solution."
