Voxbone, Jajah service localizes international calling

Voxbone is partnering with Jajah on a service that gives subscribers a virtual phone number so callers can place calls at local rates. Jajah already offers the service-International Favorites-- for O2 mobile customers in the United Kingdom.

Voxbone gives users an international "Call Me" number that directly reaches a customer's mobile phone. This second phone number--from a country of choice--is tied to an existing mobile subscription. The call is transmitted over Voxbone's VoIP network to make possible an innovative new service that Jajah has developed for O2 customers.

Voxbone said the virtual number complements the subscriber's U.K. mobile number, enabling two phone numbers to be mapped to the same device. Calls are dialed, delivered and billed like local PSTN calls; the service works with most O2 phones.

In addition, Voxbone is supplying numbers for another feature of International Favorites: provision of three local outbound numbers per subscriber that the customer may use to reach selected international landline and mobile numbers. A flat fee of £10 per month covers 3,000 minutes (50 hours) of calls to these numbers.

"International Favorites enables customers to keep in closer touch with friends and loved ones in other countries, while it benefits operators by promoting customer loyalty and international calling," said Voxbone CEO Rod Ullens.
