Warwick Valley Telephone buys USA Datanet assets for $1.25M

Tools

Warwick Valley Telephone Company, a small regional telco based in Warwick, N.Y., purchased the remaining USA Datanet wholesale and hosted VoIP assets Thursday for $1.25 million. Warwick purchased the assets in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of New York, and the deal is expected to close April 1.

USA Datanet, which was based in Syracuse, N.Y., has 170 small to medium-sized business clients that will now transfer to Warwick. USA Datanet VoIP services were shut off to users in February, after Yak America, which purchased USA Datanet's residential business, decided to shut down the accounts because VoIP was not part of its business mix. USA Datanet filed for bankruptcy protection in October 2008.
