Who are you?

I'd like to thank all of the participants in our latest FierceVoIP reader's survey. Our 45,000+ readers gave us an interesting mix of data and feedback. It is good information to have as we plan our 2009 editorial coverage and events.
What are you interested in? Over 75 percent of survey respondents said unified communication. FMC gets high marks with 40 percent of our readership, along with testing, quality of service and quality of experience monitoring (38 percent); security, including DPI and SBC (35 percent); and, call centers and call center integration (32 percent).
One respondent wanted to hear more about Digium CTO Mark Spencer, because he went to high school with the creator of Asterisk.
Some would like us to add more wireless IP stories; others think we have too much. Regulatory information is an area where many readers would like see more.
About two thirds of our readers (67 percent) hail from North America with another 19 percent across Europe. We're less well represented in Asia (7 percent) and Latin America (3 percent), which begs the question as to what we might/should do in 2009 for those markets.
I was a little surprised at the breakdown of readers by type of company. Around 26 percent of FierceVoIP readers are in the corporate/enterprise space, and another 20 percent work for Telecom Carrier/Operators. Another 24 percent of readers call themselves "Integrator/Consultant."
Let me add on one free response essay question we didn't include in the reader's survey - What's the one IP communications event where FierceVoIP needs to be at in 2009? Right now, I'm thinking it might be the eComm 09 conference in San Francisco, but the born-again SuperComm '09 in Chicago is also in contention. We're looking forward, as always, to hearing from you.
- Doug
