Windstream offers business VoIP to 100 new cities
Windstream (Nasdaq: WIN) provides video, Internet and phone service to large swaths of the U.S. population. This week they added 100 more cities to their list of potential VoIP customers.
The service provider is expanding its reach into North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Ohio, Nebraska, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Georgia and Kentucky. Their VoIP and data bundles are targeted at companies and government agencies in those states. In addition, Windstream provides VoIP and networking equipment to customers.
Windstream has been expanding its IP-based capabilities for the business market a lot lately with the acquisition of two CLECs (NuVox and Norlight Telecom via its acquisition of Q-Comm). It also recently sought to gain a foothold in the emerging cloud computing segment offering $310 million to acquire Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions and data center operator Hosted Solutions.
