Google Voice News
Google Voice is a phone management system that provides users one phone number for all devices and locations - cell, home, work - and allows them to manage their account online. It was released in March 2009. Unlike Skype and other similar programs, the computer is not making or receiving calls, though Google Voice does include that capability. Rather, the number is able to travel with you to multiple locations; it can be set up to forward to landline phones and cellular phones. Google Voice includes access to voicemail via an online account along with text messaging capabilities. Voicemails are transcribed and so can be read as emails. Users can also make international calls.
Google Voice and Sprint announced their integration in March and that therefore handheld devices would have this capability in April 2011. The Android, the iPhone, and several other devices have Google Voice applications available.
